When to book a photo session?
The honest answer is there doesn’t need to be a reason to take a portrait of yourself. Every year that passes is an excuse. This is your legacy. Do you exist in photos? Will you live on in photos once you are no longer there? Perhaps you are celebrating a major milestone, a birthday, a growing family, or achieving a goal. Yes, those are good reasons, but if this is not where you are that shouldn’t stop you from enjoying and taking the time to document your life. Photographing clients at different stages of life and celebrating who they are right now is at the core of my business and mission.
WHEN TO USE A PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER
These days everyone with a phone in their hands is a photographer, so it is important to realize when it is time for a professional to handle the job. You need a professional when you're ready to create a piece of artwork and imagery that will outlive you. You need a professional portrait photographer when you want to celebrate you, and/or your family and document that love, today. For beautiful heirlooms displayed on your walls so that every single day your children have a visual reminder of the people who love them the most in their lives, for years to come.
CREATING A SAFE SPACE FOR YOU
Portraits are powerful and we go deeper than just a pretty picture. How do you dream to be photographed? I want to empower you, yes, but it is also my mission to create a safe space (whatever that means to you) to be who you want to be. I want you to feel comfortable and cared for and you to not dread this moment like it is a painful experience. You don’t need to know how to pose or what to do with your hands. I will guide you all the way.
AM I THE PHOTOGRAPHER FOR YOU?
You want to look around through photo galleries from photographers in the area and see whose work speaks to you. From there, you need to reach out to each of these photographers to discuss what you have in mind for your photo shoot and the types of artwork you're considering for your display. You need to discuss products, the process, and what is included or not. I offer my clients a full service from start to finish. I can arrange for a virtual stylist if we are at a total loss for what will suit you, for hair and makeup to meet us at my private studio and I can arrange someone to hang your final, beautiful custom artwork on your walls at the very end. I don’t just give you an address to arrive for an in-an-out quick photo service, or hand over digital images on a USB and tell you to figure it out. I am here for you every little step to the final art and images of your dreams that you would want to come back again. Customer service is my top priority.
HOW FAR OUT SHOULD I BOOK A PHOTOSHOOT?
I would recommend as far ahead as possible. After August, the end of the year fills up fast. I usually take a max of 8 clients a month just to ensure everyone gets my full attention and time. When you book far ahead, you can then take advantage of my pre-session payment plan. A pre-session planning meeting is also required so we can go over the details of the session and prepare so we need to leave time for that. For Maternity sessions I recommend between 27 - 34 weeks of pregnancy.
